This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic medical photographer to join our busy Medical Photography Studio (MPS) at The Royal Melbourne Hospital. This is a casual position based at the RMH City Campus.
MPS provides a comprehensive clinical and non-clinical photography/video service to the hospital. The medical photography service includes routine clinical photography, documenting medical conditions with various specialist equipment. The non-clinical photography service is to support the educational, public relations, media and promotional activities of RMH. You will join a small team of staff who are committed to providing a comprehensive clinical and media service for The Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Clinical Photographer (Maternity cover)

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic qualified clinical photographer to join our Medical Illustration team in NHS Highland for 12 months to cover a period of maternity leave.
The department is based at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness but provides a multi-skilled photographic, art and graphic service to all Healthcare staff employed in the Highlands and outside the health service where appropriate. A full driving licence would be desirable since occasionally required to work in locations outside of Raigmore Hospital. You will be a talented photographer, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be patient focused and have advanced knowledge of relevant software including Adobe Creative Cloud.
The ideal candidate will have a BSc in Medical Illustration or relevant photography degree & Post Graduate Diploma or Certificate in Clinical Photography and be on the national Academy of Healthcare Science (AHCS) register.
A portfolio of recent work is expected to be submitted to demonstrate your range of photographic skills.
As the capital the Highlands, Inverness is a fast growing city set amongst some fantastic scenery and centrally located for travel around the rest of the Highlands which are a haven for outdoor enthusiasts.

The primary responsibility of the applicants will be working as part of the RVEEH Medical Photography team producing diagnostic imaging of patients for review by the medical staff same-day.
They are looking for applicants with knowledge of ophthalmic and/or general medical photography.
Familiarity with common ophthalmic diagnostic imaging modalities such as OCT, (i.e Spectralis, Cirrus), Pentacam, non-mydriatic retinal photography and OPTOS imaging is an advantage.
In addition, they require you to have excellent communication skills, strong computer skills, the ability to problem solve, able to thrive in a busy environment with conflicting demands, be a team player, and have a strong willingness to learn.

The Department

The Role
Clinical Photographer’s play a key part in the Alfred healthcare team, producing accurate and objective images to record injuries and diseases, as well as the progress of operations and medical procedures. Work is both technically and emotionally engaging. Images are used for measurement, analysis and treatment of patients for their medical record, as well as to accompany medical or scientific reports, articles or research papers. Images are also used for educational purposes, to demonstrate the effects of a range of diseases and/or medical conditions.
The Clinical Photographer will be required to take PR or Commercial style photographs of people and facilities for more general hospital use, as well as medico-legal photographs for solicitors,’ police reports, industrial accidents/insurance claims
Essential
Qualifications & Experience Required
- Bachelor of Arts (Photography) Bachelor Degree or Diploma of Applied Science (Photography) or Applied Art (Illustrative Photography) or equivalent.
- Good understanding of anatomy, photographic and optical principles.
- Knowledge of digital imaging software
Desirable
- Previous experience in Clinical photography.
- Experience in specialist Ophthalmic Photography, including Fluorescein Angiography.
